One of the reasons Fort Hill's work achieves such high quality is our long-standing relationships with some of the finest subcontractors in the area. For each project, we select those subcontractors whose strengths best match the needs of each particular project, both in terms or of specific skills and also competitive costs. Often, we will use two or more subcontractors in key trades in order to meet demanding schedule or logistical requirements. By this competitive process, our estimating team produces a bid that reflects the lowest possible cost without sacrificing high quality.
As needed by the clients or design team, we can also recommend experienced engineers and consultants in many fields of expertise, including structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, acoustic and weatherproofing, as well as all aspects of 'green' and energy efficient construction.

Fort Hill jobs run smoothly and our clients continue to use us year after year because we work to establish and maintain clear communication with our clients and their design teams. Regular site meetings are held with the owner and/or architect/designer to review job progress and design questions. Our project documentation is detailed, timely and consistent.
Proposal: At the beginning of the project, we supply a detailed bid document that thoroughly itemizes the various areas of work on the project by construction category. This original document is eventually incorporated into the job contract.
Project Schedule: The client also receives a comprehensive schedule of the work to be done, which is updated regularly as the work progresses.
Weekly Memo: Each week, we submit a memorandum to the client, the architect and everyone else involved in the decision-making process. This memo describes the progress of the work during the past week, work scheduled for the coming week, and details any proposed or client-approved changes, modifications, or revisions to the contract that may have arisen during that time.
Change Orders for Additional Work: Requests for authorization are submitted to the owner for review and approval before any modifications are implemented.

We often work with clients and architects during the preconstruction development phase of a project. We provide three in-house cost-estimates, so that the client will always be aware of how various design decisions are affecting the overall cost of the project. Additionally, we offer recommendations for sustainable building including LEED Certification, and Cal Green compliance (effective January 1, 2011).
With early consultation, changes can be made during the design phase rather than during construction, when they will be more costly. We also provide preconstruction field services such as construction mock-ups, rainy season erosion control, preliminary site grading, etc. These services are done under separate contract.

Fort Hill is experienced in acting as the owner's representative for projects under development and in overseeing projects being constructed by other general contractors.
This service, which can be performed anywhere in the U.S. or Mexico, can include travel with the client to provide assistance during the purchase of the property, meeting with architects and designers, selecting a general contractor, and making periodic site visits as necessary through the course of construction. This service is provided for a fixed fee for the duration of the project.
Fort Hill Construction is fully insured and bondable. All subcontracting firms with whom we work are required to supply proof of current insurance coverage.
Fort Hill has earned a reputation for clean and orderly job sites, and we require that our subcontractors observe the same standards. Our projects meet all OSHA safety requirements, including regular safety meetings and inspections.
